Review: hush,hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

I recently finished hush, hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. It was hard to resist with that cover and the two chapter tease I had months ago. It took me a while to finally get the book but once I started I could not stop. I read on a lot of blogs that it was too much like Twilight, but to me, while there was similarities, it was certainly its own book. Here's the summary:

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

And here's my review!:

Minor Spoilers Below-
First off, the cover art was absolutely breathtaking. There was just something about it, I had to read this book. Luckily for me, it was well worth it. I honestly didn't sense the similarities to Twilight while reading it, even though after they were mentioned I wouldn't be able to deny that they are there. Saying that, I think the book had enough of it's own qualities to push back the idea that it was just a knock off of Twilight. For one, Patch is one sexy angel, not a vampire. I'm thankful for that because most everything that I have read lately is vampire related. The chemistry between Patch and Nora is something uncommon in many books. They just spark. Nora's best friend, Vee, is somewhat out there, but she's a good friend and that's really what matters right!? I, for one, didn't like Elliot in the book, not even when they first met, something about him just felt off. Overall, this book was amazing! I will pass it around throughout the family, and it will definately be reread. Now comes the time to wait for the next installment, Crescendo. Fitzpatrick does an awesome job keeping the reader interested, and the surprises just kept coming. I definately didn't figure out what was going to happen, and that for one is a big feat because a lot of authors give that away to soon. Two thumbs up!

I will be posting a review later in the year when Becca's calander frees up a bit! So be on the lookout. That's all for this post!

Books, books and more books! :)

I know it's been a while since i've been on, and so I apoligize. I have had a lot going on with school and work! But today is my 21st birthday so lucky for me I am not working. I did have a test this morning and I have to complete a paper before midnight but I digress, tonight will be fun!

I went to Border's last week and picked up some new books. I FINALLY got hush, hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I have been waiting months to read this book, and even though I have had it for a week I still haven't been able to read it. Very frustrating. Anyways, I also got a book called house of dark shadows by Robert Liparulo, its the first in a series which already has an additional three books out and the fifth one is being released in January so I will be starting that after I finish the other two books I want to read. I also picked up the first book in The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, Eight Grade Bites, by Heather Brewer. Looks like a very good book and series. I'm very into series. I think that is all I have been reading lately.

I also signed up for a Sci-Fi Book Club online. They have a very good selection. I have already read the first two books in the Anita Blake Series by Laurell K Hamilton, but they had the first three books in one, and the second three in one, and the seventh/eight in one, as well as the ninth/tenth in one. My first four books were $1.00, so therefore I got the first 10 books in the series for $4.00. Well you can't beat that deal. I also got the New Moon Movie Companion for $1.00 and something else I don't remember for $5.99. Yes, so I am excited about getting those. I have run out of room on my bookshelf so who knows where all of these wonderful books will go.

I was thinking about having a contest soon, I have many multiple books, but I don't want to with only 16 followers, so If you guys can get me some more followers we will have a contest! :)

About the shows on tv right now... woooeeeee! That's all I can say.
I am very impressed with Vampire Diaries even with all of the changes from the book. I am also loving Gossip Girl, and the series and books differ greatly. I think I may even like the show more than the books. I still read the books though I just can't help myself. Dexter is phenomenal. If you haven't seen it, you should. It amazes me how great it is and how every episode is better than the last. I can only hope the show will stay on for many seasons, and if not I always have the books, which I still haven't read yet. I just realized all my favorite shows are based on books... weird.

Okay I think that's it for today. I will probably start hush, hush soon and once I start I know I won't be able to stop. Hopefully I will have a review for you guys soon and maybe some new author interviews. I always love giving those! Have a great day everyone!!!

Something new!

I just started reading a book called Behind Every Illusion by author Christina Harner. The cover art is amazing and the first chapter was good enough to keep me interested so that's definately a plus. I received a review copy from the author herself off of Librarything, this is the third book i've gotten for free to review so everyone should go sign up it's a great deal. It hasn't been published, well the review copies have but the final editions haven't. Anyways I will be posting a review and an interview with Christina after I finish.

Also on a positive note.... I just got accepted to UAlbany!!! Yay for me, I am still waiting for word on one other school I applied to where I want to complete my Bachelor's degree. I am very excited to be moving on.

That's all for today!

New used Books!

Yesterday I went to a book sale at my public library! OMG! I got three bags of used books for 8 dollars! I got so much stuff, I don't think any young adult but I still got a lot of great ones. Here's some of my good finds:

Deception Point by Dan Brown
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
The Rainmaker by John Grisham
Prey by Micheal Chricton
The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Sparks
and so much more!

I also got some movies for my niece and one for myself!

I never knew the library did these sales but I will be going from now on, the next one is in Feburary! :)

I'm not really reading anything pacific at the moment, so much school work and work in general. I will pick up something good soon, probably Hush, Hush tomorrow! :)

Kissed by an Angel Review

I heard from someone, i'm not sure who, that Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler was an awesome book. I was looking for suggestions so I went to Border's and picked it up, three books in one for 10 bucks! Not bad, and neither was the book. By looking at the cover and reading it I would have never guessed it was written in 1994! Say what! Yes, so here is the summary and i'll follow that with a review!

Kissed by an Angel
By: Elizabeth Chandler
A brief summary of all three books(in the one book):

An angelic romantic suspense trilogy in one volume! "Kissed by an Angel": Ivy and Tristan have the love of a lifetime--until Tristan dies in a car accident. Now Tristan returns as an angel, but Ivy is unable to feel his presence. "The Power of Love": Tristan has learned that the person responsible for the car crash is after Ivy. Can he cross the boundaries of life and death to warn Ivy that she is in trouble? "Soulmates": Tristan must rescue Ivy, but if he does so his mission will be finished and he will have to leave his true love forever.

Review:

Well first off I thought that overall this book was amazing! I had heard this book had some of the elements of Twilight, the characters and their love for each other, but now I guess it would be Twilight had some of the elements from this, since it was written a good 10 years before. I loved the chemistry between Ivy and Tristan. I also enjoyed the many side characters. Lacey added a lot to the story, if Tristan was an Angel all by himself I think it would have become boring very quickly. The bad guy, I won't tell you who, was a very well hidden bad guy. I started to figure it out a little while into it, but I would never have guessed it right off the bat. There were some points were I felt the story dragged a bit and I thought I should have reached the ending much quicker then I did, but overall I found it to be a very interesting book. I generally don't read Angel books, I stick to vampires and demons and such but I am very glad I heard about this. I will be picking up Chandler's Dark Secrets books next.

Lack of reading, surplus of shows...

Amazingly I haven't had time to pick up a book in the past three days. Yes I know it's all very sad. I believe I am having some type of withdrawls from my lack of reading. I need some ideas for some really good books. I know there are some out there! I need to be in the mood for a book to pick it up and nothing is appealing to me right now so send me some ideas of new or old books that you really loved because I need something new to read! Thanks everyone. Away from books for the moment, there are so many great shows on television this fall. On Mondays I have Heroes, Gossip Girls, House and I believe Trauma is also on Mondays but I watch that on demand. Wednesdays has Mercy and So you think you can dance? Thursdays has Vampire Diaries, which I am loving even though it is very different from the books. Sunday has Dexter and Three Rivers. There's more I just can't think right now. My mind is clouding just thinking about all the shows I have to watch just to catch up. Oh well that's what box sets are for right?!?! What is your favorite show on television right now? :)
