Interview with Kimberly Derting and yes a giveaway!!!

Wow these contest are really adding up. I should have done one HUGE contest for all the books i'm giving away, but authors are very busy people and I didn't know when I would have which interviews back so I just separated them. So anyways, there's this book coming out in March called The Body Finder, i'm mostly sure you've heard of it but if not here's the trailer, watch it!



Now that you know about this awesome book, how about an interview with the author! Yes, Kimberly has been kind enough to stop by and answer a few questions.

Q: To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

A: Let’s see…I live in the Northwest with my husband and our three kids. I’m always surrounded by teenagers (my kids and their friends), which I think helps with my writing. Sometimes I’ll ask for their opinions on dialogue. Sometimes I just eavesdrop and call it “research.”

Q: For those reading that don't already know, what is The Body Finder about?

A: Sixteen-year-old Violet is struggling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her unusual so-called gift. While her confusing feelings for her childhood best friend are new, she has been able to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered—and the imprints that attach to their killers since she was a little girl. Violet has never considered her ability to be useful, but now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Fiercely protective of her, Jay agrees to help Violet search for the murderer. But even as she’s falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.

Q: How did you come up with the idea for this book?

A: My husband and I were driving one day, brainstorming book ideas, when he said something about a boy who could find dead bodies. Once we got home, I was practically racing through the door to start writing about Violet and her creepy ability.

Q: Can you offer us a teaser from the book?

A: Violet strained to see into the lake below. Multihued light seemed to be radiating up from beneath the water, centered among the reeds, and then diffusing outward as it reached the surface. Violet had never seen anything like it, and she knew that the spectrum of light was defying its very nature by behaving in that way.

It could be only one thing.

There was something dead down there.

Q: You've been interested in writing since a young age, did you ever think you would become a published author?

A: When I was 20, I managed to get an agent for a horror manuscript I wrote called ONE OF THEM. After getting an agent, I really thought I was going to get published. Little did I know it would be with a different agent (Laura Rennert), a different book, and in an entirely different decade.

Q: What was your favorite book/author growing up, and now?

A: I loved (and still love) Stephen King. I started reading everything he ever wrote when I was around 13 years old. He’s definitely the reason I started writing.

Q: Anything in the works?

A: Why yes, I do have something in the works that I’m very excited about. :)

Q: Favorite junk food?

A: Lately, I’ve grown a very unhealthy attachment to Pirate’s Booty popcorn. If you’ve never had any, go get it! You won’t be sorry. Or maybe you will!

Q: Favorite Television show(s)?

A: I love shows like House, Medium, American Idol, 30 Rock, and the new show Modern Family. But one of my guilty pleasures is It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia…it’s all kinds of sick and twisted!
