A couple of days before the release of The Iron King, I received an ARC copy that I had won from the fabtastic MundieMoms! While the summary definitely sounded promising and the cover was beauitful, I hadn't read much about Faeries before(that's not saying I haven't tried) so I left it on my shelf for a day when I felt like reading it. You know how you have to be in the mood to read certain things sometimes... Well I waited for a while, and when my blogging buddy Lucy mentioned to me that I was crazy for not having read it yet I figured, well if she liked it that much I probably would too since we have the same taste in reading material.
Before I start though... the book description!
Here is the summary from goodreads:
"Meghan Chase has never fit in at her small-town high school, and now, on the eve of her 16th birthday, she discovers why. When her half brother is kidnapped, Meghan is drawn into a fantastical world she never imagined--the world of Faery, where anything you see may try to eat you, and Meghan is the daughter of the summer faery king. Now she will journey into the depths of Faery to face an unknown enemy . . . and beg the help of a winter prince who might as soon kill her as let her touch his icy heart. The Iron King is the first book in the Iron Fey series."
My Review: ***** = 5 Stars
Well priority number one, many thanks go to Lucy because if it wasn't for her, it would have taken me much longer to read this book! I started it on Wednesday and I finished it that same night! I never thought I would get sucked into a book about Faeries. I'm a fantasy loving guru but for some reason, I just don't care for Faeries... Well things are beginning to change. I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's so amazing, an adventure right from the beginning. The lead character Meghan isn't that strong or powerful(and I mean mentally/physically not the writing) starting out but she is very loyal to those she cares about and it makes you want to root for her the entire time. I love how as the story progresses, so does her growth. Of course there are some guys too. There's Ash(oh how I love Ash), the ice prince and technically a family enemy and then there's Puck, whos just as swoonworthy as Ash. They're both gorgeous and protective and while one has a funny bone the other one is clearly lacking in the comedy front but he's very quiet which makes him just as interesting. And I have to give a shoutout to my favorite cat, Grimalkin, because you rock, and why do you rock, well because you're a cat! ;) You definitely want to read this book if you haven't yet! I haven't heard a single bad thing about it. I recommend it to you, you, you over there, heck I recommend it to everyone!
Now I don't know what to read next because the last three books I have read have all been five stars in my book and I don't want to get let down with my next read!!!
Oh Yea and p.s the second book in The Iron Fey series, called The Iron Daughter, comes out in August so get your calanders out and start counting down the days, well you can start with months, then work your way down to weeks then days!! Wootwoot!! :)
And.. Just in case you missed the interview I did with the brilliant Julie Kagawa, check it out here!
Have you read The Iron King yet, if so what did you think?!?!

Wonderful review! I loved this book. Unlike you, I ended up putting down the other books I was reading and dove write into this one. Can't wait until the release of The Iron Daughter. I hope it's just as great as this one.
