Author Apprectiation Week: Cassandra Clare

(made by Sara from Novel Novice)

For today's Author Appreciation Post I have chosen Cassandra Clare.

Author Bio(from Clare's Website):

"Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Teheran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old. Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).

After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again."

What can I say about Cassandra Clare! She's a genius!! I chose her as one of my favorite authors because I don't think there have ever been any books written that I have been so excited to read. I look forward to anything and everything she will come out with in the future. The world she created in City of Bones was one of a kind, and it takes a true writer to be able to tackle such a task. Her characters were believeable and loveable and probably my favorite characters ever written too. I have reread The Mortal Instruments series more times than I can count and it still amazes me how sucked in I get. I have passed my books by her out to many people and the reaction is always the same. Amazing! I recommend her books to everyone and I hope that if you haven't read The Mortal Instruments yet, you grab a copy of City of Bones and get to it!! :)

Works by Cassandra Clare:

City of Bones (1st in the Mortal Instruments Series)
City of Ashes (2nd in the Mortal Instruments Series)
City of Glass (3rd in the Mortal Instruments Series)
The Clockwork Angel: Late 2010 (1st in The Infernal Devices Series)
City of Fallen Angels:: March 2011 (4th in the Mortal Instruments Series)
