Review: Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols

Image
I recently read(from the Library) Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols as a part of the bookclub forum I am part of. For those of you who don't know what it is about, read the summary below! Summary from goodreads: "All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far... and almost doesn't make it back. John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge - and over..." My Review: ****1/2 = 4 and a ...

Waiting on Wednesday(5)

Image
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine ! This week I chose Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver. I've seen it everyone and I've read some amazing reviews. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I actually heard it was at Barnes and Noble in some areas so I am going to head over to mine tomorrow and check it out.. The actual release day isn't until March 2nd though! Here's the summary from goodreads: "What if you had only one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life? Samantha Kingston has it all—looks, popularity, the perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12th should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it’s her last. The catch: Samantha still wakes up the next morning. In fact, she re-lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she had ever imagined." So there you ...

Weekly Overview(- 2 days)

Image
(Isn't this pic gorgeous, this is where I wish I was, instead of being home sick... a girl can dream right!?!?) So I still feel like complete crap, but I wanted to at least do an overview of what happened last week on my blog and on my super awesome affiliates blogs. I mention the minus 2 days because this isn't counting todays or yesterdays happenings. My week ended on Saturday I just haven't gotten around to doing it with how I've been feeling lately. Here is what I did this week: I reviewed Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder and The Iron King by Julie Kagawa, both which were 5 stars in my opinion. I participated in a blog tour for Angela Morrison's Sing Me to Sleep. She stopped by for an interview to go with it so in case you missed it just clicky here . Angela was also kind enough to offer up one signed copy of her book to a lucky winner so make sure you go enter if you haven't already done so! I still have The Body Finder & Swag contest g...

In My Mailbox (5)

Image
In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren . Ok well since the mailman forbade to bring me any new books this week, I went to the library. I've only been there twice ever, and i've lived here since 2000... yes crazy indeed. I had to ask where certain sections are because the library here is quite big and I had no freaking clue where anything was. While it is big, the teen/YA section completely sucks but I managed to snag a few things that I want to read. Here is what I got: Magic Study by Maria V Snyder - Wootwoot so excited to read this! I loveddd Poison Study, check out my review from earlier this week in case you missed it! Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols - This is one of the books for the book forum I am in. I've heard good things about it so i'm looking forward to starting it(which will be later tonight!) and last but not least... Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev - Ok I'm seeing Perchance to Dream everywhere and both covers...

Review: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Image
A couple of days before the release of The Iron King, I received an ARC copy that I had won from the fabtastic MundieMoms! While the summary definitely sounded promising and the cover was beauitful, I hadn't read much about Faeries before(that's not saying I haven't tried) so I left it on my shelf for a day when I felt like reading it. You know how you have to be in the mood to read certain things sometimes... Well I waited for a while, and when my blogging buddy Lucy mentioned to me that I was crazy for not having read it yet I figured, well if she liked it that much I probably would too since we have the same taste in reading material. Before I start though... the book description! Here is the summary from goodreads: "Meghan Chase has never fit in at her small-town high school, and now, on the eve of her 16th birthday, she discovers why. When her half brother is kidnapped, Meghan is drawn into a fantastical world she never imagined--the world of Faery, whe...

She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia. And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. Waiting on Wednesday (4)

I realized that I still don't have a list of books that I want when they are released. That's terrible because i'm sure there were some that I have forgotten about over time... I should start a list... :) Anyways... on with WoW! "Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine . This week while I was perusing through the upcoming releases on Amazon and Borders. I had heard of the book but never really knew what it was about. Forget-Her-Nots by Amy Brecount White (March 2, 2010)   Summary from goodreads: "When someone leaves three mystery flowers outside her dorm door, Laurel thinks that maybe the Avondale School isn't so awful after all — until her own body starts to freak out. In the middle of her English presentation on the Victorian Language of Flowers, strange words pop into her head, and her body seems to tingle and hum. Impulsively, Laurel gives the love bouquet she made to demonstrate the language to her sp...

Image
This isn't a review. Elizabeth Scott is hosting a HUGE contest over at her blog giving away 25 young adult books to someone who is spreading the word about her newest work The Unwritten Rule which is being released March 9th. I can not wait for this book. Ever since I have read the wonderful reviews on it, and read about it on Elizabeth's blog, i've been trying to get my hands on it! Unfortunately I don't think its going to happen but luckily for me March 9th isn't too far away! Here is what The Unwritten Rule is all about(goodreads): "Everyone knows the unwritten rule: You don't like your best friend's boyfriend. Sarah has had a crush on Ryan for years. He's easy to talk to, supersmart, and totally gets her. Lately it even seems like he's paying extra attention to her. Everything would be perfect except for two things: Ryan is Brianna's boyfriend, and Brianna is Sarah's best friend. Sarah forces herself to avoid Ryan and trie...

Review: Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison

Image
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison, from Angela earlier this week. Before I give you my review of this, read below for the summary! Summary from Goodreads: "THE TRANSFORMATION Beth has always been “The Beast”—that’s what everyone at school calls her because of her awkward height, facial scars, and thick glasses. Beth’s only friend is geeky, golden-haired Scott. That is, until she’s selected to be her choir’s soprano soloist, and receives the makeover that will change her life forever. THE LOVE AFFAIR When Beth’s choir travels to Switzerland, she meets Derek: pale, brooding, totally dreamy. Derek’s untethered passion—for music, and for Beth—leaves her breathless. Because in Derek’s eyes? She’s not The Beast, she’s The Beauty. THE IMPOSSIBLE CHOICE When Beth comes home, Scott, her best friend in the world, makes a confession that leaves her completely torn. Should she stand by sweet, steady Scott or follow the dangerous, intense new...

Blog Tour: Firespell by Chloe Neill

Image
Yay, this is my first ever time partaking in a Blog Tour! I'm so happy it's a book I absolutely loved, Firespell, the first book in the Dark Elite series by Chloe Neill! If you missed my review you can check it out here! For those of you who are not familiar with what Firespell is, here is the summary from goodreads: "As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia’s boarding school, Lily Parker thinks her classmates are the most monstrous things she’ll have to face… When Lily’s guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, she was shocked. So was St. Sophia’s. Lily’s ultra-rich brat pack classmates think Lily should be the punchline to every joke, and on top of that, she’s hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building. The only thing keeping her sane is her roommate, Scout, but even Scout’s a little weird—she keeps disappearing late at night and won’t tell Lily where she’s been. But when a prank leaves...
