Memorable Books from 2009!

I haven't gotten the chance to read as many books from 2009 as I would have liked to. I see these lists with so many books that I haven't read but I still found many books that were very enjoyable to me. Instead of picking a 6th and 7th for my favorites from 2009, I just decided to list some memorable ones. So these are also up for grabs in my contest along with my previous 5 that were posted throughout the week: Evermore by Alyson Noel (first in the immortals series) Blue Moon by Alyson Noel (second in the immortals series) Stargazer by Claudia Gray (second in evernight series) Eternal by Cynthia Leicht Smith So in all that makes 9 books to choose from, so far theres only like 13 entries so you have a pretty good chance of winning. Only 14 more followers until the first place winner gets to pick two of these books! I will post all of the choices on the contest page! Sherry <3

Books 3,4 & 5 from my top 7 of 2009!

Image
Ok so I know I am a slacker, most of the time, but that wasn't the case in why these posts are so late. I went to Connecticut Sunday, i've been working a lot. I just didn't have the time to sit down and write reviews about these books no matter how much I love them. But I do have time now so without further ado, books 3,4 & 5 from my top 7 from 2009.(I'll do books 6 & 7 tomorrow so there's not to much in this one post!) For book 3 I have chosen a book that I originally never intended on reading, seeing as I never intended on reading the first book that came out in this series. I am talking about Catching Fire . While it took me a while to actually pick up The Hunger Games (the first book in the series) it took me a few more months to actually open it. I'm not sure what it was but it just didn't look that good to me. Well, I was wrong. I know it's a rarity but it does happen on occasion. I loved The Hunger Games and I knew Catching Fire would b...

So behind!!!

I'm so very, very SORRY that I am behind on my posts. I promise to make it up to you all tomorrow. I will post books 3,4,5 and 6 in my top 7 from 2009. That will leave book 7 for the 31st. Don't forget those 7 books will be the choices for the prizes in my contest, if you haven't entered yet, you can find it on my navigation bar at the top of the page. (look up^^^^) Alright, I have to go but I promise to catch up tomorrow! Night all!!!! Sherry <3

Book 2 from my top 7 favorites from 2009!

Image
So since I only had 7 choices for my top picks from 2009, a lot of thought went into making this list. I have many favorites but some didn't make the cut. Blood Promise was one of the ones that did make it. Blood Promise is the fourth book in the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. Keep reading for my review! Here is a summary of the book(minor spoilers below, you have been warned!): "How far will Rose go to keep her promise? The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir's Academy was the deadliest ever in the school's history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them... including Dimitri. He'd rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa – the one she has sworn to protect no matter what – and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?"...

Review and Interview w/ author Christina Harner!

Image
Here is a review of the book Behind Every Illusion by Christina Harner. Christina was kind enough to do an interview with me so read on to see what she had to say! Here is a summary of the book: "Even timid eighteen-year-old Tatiana Lewis wholeheartedly accepts this logic. So when she begins to experience unusual changes, she has no clue where to turn and instead keeps her new abilities a secret. But her best friend and brother, Isaac, sees past her illusions and together they explore the significance of her differences and search out the meaning behind them. Amidst tragedy, unimaginable transformations and an unexpected friendship, Tatiana has to learn to reveal the girl hidden behind her illusions and what it means to face the world in order to preserve not only the forest but her very existence."    I received a copy of this book back in September from Christina Harner and Librarything. I didn't want to sit down and read it until I knew I would have time to...

Book 1 from my top 7 favorites from 2009!

Image
Ahhh so this is a little late but I had this family Christmas party last night and it just wasn't going to happen. This counts towards the 25th though. This is my first day of my favorite books from 2009. While the books that I am choosing are in no particular order, this has to be one of my favorites from not only 2009 but ever. I am a huge fan of Cassandra Clare so I am happy to say that City of Glass , part of the Mortal Instruments Series is indeed in my top 7 of 2009. *cheers from the crowd* City of Glass is the third book in a series(The Mortal Instruments) written by Cassandra Clare. Originally meant to be a trilogy, a fourth book will now be released in 2011(hopefully!!!!). Here is a summary of the book:(if you haven't read the first this or the first two, beware of minor spoilers below!) "To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters -- never mind that entering the city without permission i...

The perfect Christmas!!!

Image
(a picture of my dad in Iraq, he works on those things!!!) I am so happy right now. This Christmas was made perfect by the arrival of my dad last night. He's been over in Iraq, working as a Field Service Rep. We originally didn't think he would be home until January 4th but we're lucky enough to have him home early. He had a tough five days of travel to make it here, but he's here and thats all that matters. He's only home for three weeks unfortunately and then he goes back to Iraq until sometime in the middle of 2010. He is starting his own blog to record what goes on over there so if anyone is interested his page will be this: A Place in the Sun  He doesn't have any posts yet and we are still working on his profile but I think once he starts actually posting when he goes back it will be quite interesting to hear whats happening and to see some pictures. Tomorrow is the first of my three finals. After Wednesday, I will officially be done with school(for this degree). Evenutally I will go back to school but to think having one degree down is a relief. I actually like school, well certain classes. Anyways, I have a lot of studying to do for the next three days so if you notice my absence please don't be alarmed. I will be returning. I will try to post at least once a day since the holidays are upon us and there are some things coming up I want to talk about. Enough about school, lets talk about books! My TBR list keeps growing and my read pile isn't going anywhere.... I haven't really been in the mood to read anything on my shelf except for ones i've already read. All the books I really want to read, I don't have. With Christmas right around the corner i'm hoping to get lots of new stuff, and when I say stuff I mean books. I'm excited. Here's are some books I want to read or am looking forward to rea...

Long overdue Eclipse and Breaking Dawn reviews!

Image
I never actually thought about posting a review on the Twilight Saga books because I read them soooo long ago, but I just re-read Eclipse and Breaking Dawn so I figured, why not? Here ya go! Eclipse By: Stephenie Meyer Inside Jacket Summary: "As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob---knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?" My views: As a reader of the series from the very beginning, I have followed all there is to follow about the Twilight Saga. I wouldn't call myself one of those obsessed fangirls but I thoroughly enjoy the books. Previously I had only re...

Late reviews and contest idea!!

Image
I'm getting ready to go to bed and thought I would post first. I'm in the middle of Breaking Dawn right now, and I decided, that I would go through and review all 4 books in the Twilight Saga. I read the books way before I had a blog, but I just reread Eclipse and now Breaking Dawn so I figured it wouldn't hurt since i'm sure there are still some of you out there that haven't read the books. Then I thought that maybe right before 2010 arrives, I will spend a week posting reviews on some of my favorite books from this past year, like a salute to the great books from 09'! Does that sound like a good idea. And then(am I reminding anyone of that annoying lady from dude where's my car yet, if so I apologize!!!)...... I decided at the end of my week of great books from 2009 posts, I would have a giveaway where the winner would get to pick one of my 7 favorite books from 2009. If everyone likes this idea then I will do it but I need some feedback so let me know!!! ...

What i'm looking forward to... :)

The days of this December have gone by rediculously fast. In approximately 13 days, I will be taking my last final to finally, yes FINALLY, graduate from College. Of course it's just a two year degree, but hey a degree is a degree so YAY! I will gain an Associate's in Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Science. I won't be stopping there though, next fall I will be attending University at Albany to start all over again to get my Bachelor's in Sociology. I am thrilled to be at this point, and thrilled for a lonnnnnng break from school. I plan on reading lots of books. Here are some books that I am eagerly waiting to be released(some soon and some way down the road): Phantoms, Evil Thirsts, Creatures of Forever By: Christopher Pike This is three books in one, the last three books out of the six book series about vampires. I read the first set of books when it came out last year(another 3-in-1 book) and absolutely loved it. Here is a description of this one that is coming ...

A re-read and a new song!

Image
I have read Twilight numerous times. I have read New Moon at least three times and Breaking Dawn at least seven. I know, i'm pathetic. I was sitting here earlier thinking about how I have only read Eclipse once. For some reason, one that I am not aware of so don't ask, it is my least favorite of the Twilight Saga. Anyways the point of this little story is that I grabbed a copy of it off my shelf, yes I say a copy because I have more than one of each of the books, and started reading it. Big mistake because I only have like 50 books on my shelf I still haven't read and now I am going to have to stay up all night reading this because now that I started it I can't stop. I also have a show on at 9, Gossip Girl(im addicted), so that takes an hour out of my time! Chances are after I finish this, that i'll want to read Breaking Dawn again.... Rediculous. I guess I can't get too mad because I do love these books... :) I also have this new song stuck in my head, the tune...
